Renewals
All Business Licences expire a year after application date and renewal notices will be mailed out. Payment for licence renewals can be made:
- In person at the City of Penticton Business Licence Office, 1st Floor 171 Main Street between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday;
- By mail with a cheque or money order with the renewal notice enclosed; or
- By drop box for after hours with a cheque or money order with the renewal notice enclosed
Accepted methods of payment: Cash, cheque, money order (made payable to the City of Penticton) or debit card. Credit cards are not accepted.
If you would like to make changes to your existing licence, you will be required to complete and submit a Business Licence Information Change [PDF - 125 KB] form with payment of the change and renewal fee. Changes include any amendments to a business name, company name, ownership, address, emergency contact or classification. If a change of ownership has occurred, you must have previous owner and new owner sign the information change form. Please see Changes for more information.
Processing Time
The time required to process a renewal can vary. If you have made payment by mail, you will be mailed back the receipt with a new sticker to apply to your Business Licence within 2 weeks. If you come into our office, you will receive your new sticker immediately.
If you are planning to come into our office during the licence renewal period, please expect some waiting times.
Penalties
All Business Licences expire a year from the application date and payment must be received by our office by this date (not the postmarked date from the post office). There will be a penalty applied to late payments as set out in Business Licence Bylaw 2012-5020.pdf [PDF - 635 KB]. If the prescribed fee is paid after the due date, a penalty will be charged of $16.50.
