Snow & Ice Control
Snow Angels
To assist the elderly and those with disabilities the City of Penticton coordinates a Snow Angel Program.
Snow and Ice Control
Each winter season the City of Penticton's Works Department is responsible for maintaining approximately 230 km of road to a safe and passable condition. The Snow and Ice Control Operations are guided by a the Snow and Ice Control Policy [PDF - 1.2 MB].
During the winter months of November 1st to March 31st Public Works Crews will be providing snow and ice control 7 days a week from 4:00 am to 11:00 pm to ensure safe transportation within the City.
Roads are cleared on a priority basis commencing with the first priority (main arterials, steep hills, school zones, bus routes, etc) followed by residential roads and cul-de-sacs which will be cleared to a safe and passable condition within 48 hours of the snow event.
Despite the efforts of a highly motivated snow removal crew, conditions can deteriorate and roads can become treacherous. Motorists are advised to practice defensive driving and exercise caution at all times.
