City names new Economic Development Officer

The City of Penticton is pleased to announce that Colleen Pennington has been selected as the successful candidate for the Economic Development Officer position.

Colleen will be responsible for attracting, expanding and supporting the City of Penticton's commercial, industrial and public enterprises to positively affect the economic health of the City.

"Colleen is a seasoned senior executive with extensive experience in leadership, strategy, management, business development and operations," said Annette Antoniak, City Manager. "We are incredibly pleased to have her join the City team and lead economic development for the area."

Colleen comes to the City of Penticton from the Transportation Investment Corporation, where she built upon her experience in business policy and framework. Previous to that, she spent 16 years at Telus working extensively on networking and strategic business development. As a portfolio assessment director for the venture capital division, Colleen convinced companies throughout North America to invest in a portfolio of prospects and negotiated equity positions worth millions in potential companies. As a director of business development for Telus, she created compelling business strategies and proposals, securing multi-million dollar investments from boards and CEOs.

Colleen holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree and Bachelor of Arts degree, both from the University of Saskatchewan, and has contributed a significant amount of time to community involvement like the Women's Executive Network, New Ventures BC and the BC Innovation Council.

Colleen officially joins the City effective July 9.
