Welcome to new Museum Curator

The City of Penticton is pleased to announce that Dennis Oomen has accepted the position of Manager and Curator for the Penticton Museum & Archives.

“Dennis brings a wealth of experience in the heritage and knowledge industry, and has overseen operations in several museums throughout Canada. He will be an excellent steward of Penticton's history for generations to come,” said Chuck Loewen, General Manager Recreation & Facilities.

Dennis Oomen's career began with contract work for the Federal Canadian Museum of Civilization in Hull, Que. in 1988, and has diverse experience in the heritage field having worked at the Museum of Nature, the National Aviation Museum, Calgary's Glenbow Museum and the Kelowna Museums. Oomen has been the curator at the Kamloops Museum and Archives since December of 2006.

Oomen is also very active in the B.C. Museums Association, chairing various committees and the annual conference.

Oomen joins the City on Nov. 18.
