Arena studies now available

The studies that detail the costs to repair the Memorial and McLaren Arenas or build new are now available for the community to review. The studies have been published at shapeyourcitypenticton.ca in preparation for the Open House today at the Penticton Trade & Convention Centre between 4 pm and 8 pm.

“Many of the people that we have spoken to have been waiting for this level of detail before forming an opinion on what to do about Memorial Arena,” says Stewart Ladyman, Chair of the Arena Task Force. “The ink is barely dry on a few of the studies but we felt it was important to get the information out as early as possible.”

Timing is tight for the Arena Task Force as they work to prepare a recommendation for Council in advance of the July 30 deadline for a grant that could secure up to $6 million towards the future of Penticton’s arenas. Residents are asked to review the studies and complete a feedback form to share their preferences with the Task Force. The Task Force will share their recommendation with Council at a special meeting on July 25.
