The Parks department has actively deployed all labour and equipment that we have since the beginning of the snow event on Tuesday. Although we have had a full complement of staff and equipment working to remove the snow and ice from walkways, there are some specific locations that users should be aware that they are either icy or they have compact snow on the walkways, some places have both icy sections as well as compact snow, these conditions make it very dangerous to traverse some of these areas on foot. We would recommend that users are aware of the situation, wear proper footwear and are cautious while out enjoying the city walkways.
The worst locations for ice conditions are:
- Lakeshore Drive from The SS Sicamous to the Marina
- Penticton creek walkway from Front Street to The water Treatment plant
- KVR walkway from Vancouver Hill to Fairview St.
