Permits
The B.C. Building Code has no requirements
for inspections. Inspections are requirements of the local Municipal
Bylaw.
City of Penticton Inspections
Within the City of Penticton Inspections
are as follows: |

The Owner or his agent, contractor or subcontractor
is jointly responsible for calling for inspections.
On New Single Family dwellings;
- (i) After forms for footings are completed, but
prior to placing any concrete.
- (ii) After damproofing, but prior to backfilling.
- (iii) After all rough-in plumbing, but prior to
covering.
- (iv) After completion of framing, but prior to
installation of insulation and vapour barrier.
- (v) After installation of all insulation and vapour
barrier, but prior to covering.
- (vi) After completion of all work, but prior to
occupancy.
The owner/contractor must give 24 hours notice prior
to inspection.
The city has provided a 24 hour answering service
to call for inspections - the number is 490-2511.

The following information must be given at time inspection
is called for;
- building permit number,
- address of property,
- owner/contractors name and type of inspection required.
The bylaw requires the owner/contractor to call the
inspection may or may not be made.
The owner/contractor may 24 hours after calling for the inspection proceed
to cover the work.

On Projects Other Than
Single Family Dwellings
Requirements are given out with the building
permit. Inspection will vary depending upon the number of professional,
architects and engineers involved.
Joint inspections with the professionals
may be required. |
Bylaw Enforcement
All land development applications including Subdivisions,
Rezoning,
Development Permits, Building Permits and Business Licenses are
processed through the Development Services Department.
The Bylaw Enforcement Division is a sub-division
within the Building and Licence Division of Development Services and
is responsible for the enforcement of City Bylaws.
