Be Fire Safe, Penticton

Temporary Ban - Open Fires

(Fire Pits/ Outdoor Fire Places/ Campgrounds)

Due to the high to extreme fire danger rating throughout the interior of British Columbia the City of Penticton is banning all open fires in Penticton as of noon Thursday, July 29, 2010.

This ban is in conjunction with the Kamloops Fire Centre Open Burning Ban that covers all BC Parks, Crown and private lands with in its jurisdiction and the RDOS Open Fire Ban.  These bans are being implemented to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

The fire pits at both Okanagan and Skaha beaches will be closed and burning in outdoor fire places on private property will not be permitted.  This ban does not apply to cooking stoves and portable campfires that use gas, propane or briquettes.

The ban will be in place until September 30, 2010, or until the public is otherwise notified.
