What day is my Garbage collected?

To find out your garbage day please call Capital Environmental at 490-3888.

Single Family, duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes in the City's Garbage Area are entitled to weekly pick-up. Garbage cans are to be put out by 7:00am on your garbage day to a Maximum 2 (Two) Standard Size Garbage Cans or Bags or 1 (One) Green Garbage Toteper week.

Where is the nearest Landfill and when is it open?

The Campbell Mountain Sanitary Landfill is administered by the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen and is located approximately 5 km northeast of Penticton on the way to Naramata off Reservoir Road.

The Landfill hours of operation are:
8:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Landfill fees and details are available from Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen.

Penticton has an extensive system of hiking and biking paths as well as nearby ski trails, climbing routes, etc. The KVR Rail system has been converted to trails as well and runs through the heart of the City.

Where can I find out about Skiing in the Penticton Area?

Apex Mountain Resort offers world-class skiing, breathtaking scenery and the warmth and friendliness of a small resort.

Mount Baldy Ski Area, just 60 minutes south of Penticton boasts more than 20 runs, great tree skiing, a double chairlift and no lineups. Open December to April.

The Nickel Plate Cross Country Ski Club

Nickel Plate is located west of Penticton near Apex Resort, offers a great variety of opportunities for all levels of skiers. There are over 50 km of trails which are groomed daily by the finest in ski grooming equipment. The beginner trails are considered the best in the valley!

Nickel Plate has one of the longest ski seasons of any club in the Western Hemisphere - snow falls in November, and many skiers are still out in June.

The Apex Ski Club & Alcan Nancy Greene Ski League

The Apex Ski Club is a non-profit society that is associated with BC Alpine and Alpine Canada, whose primary objectives are to offer hish quality programs for developing ski racers, to have fun through competition, and to be adaptable as young skiers progress.

The Alpine Racing Program is a two-part program which includes opportunities for individual competition in the Juvenile (11-18 years) programs and team competition through the entry-level Alcan Nancy Greene Ski League (6-12 years). Young athletes from ages 6 through 18 in the Apex Ski Club receive high level professional coaching from a fully certified veteran coaching staff who are experienced in local, national and international racing.

Are there any Hockey facilities in the Penticton Area?

Goalie School at OHS - Okanagan Hockey School

Penticton has two primary arenas: Memorial Arena and McLaren Park. Memorial Arena is home to the local Junior Hockey team, the Penticton Vees.

During the summer, the Okanagan Hockey School is an important local annual program with students attending from all over the world.

I would like to know about Dance Clubs in the Penticton Area...

Funtimers Ballroom Dance Club

For the past two years, the Funtimers have been located at The Elks' Hall on Ellis Street in Penticton. Dance sessions are from 7.30 pm to 9.30 pm. on Friday evenings from September until the end of April.

Visitors and new members are always welcome. Annual membership fee is a modest $7.50 for each person. Admission to Friday dances is $3.00 each for members and $5.00 for non-members.

Square and Round Dancing

The Okanagan Square & Round Dancing Association - OSRDA, represents approximately 1000 dancers in 14 clubs throughout the south and north Okanagan Valley. The City of Penticton is also Canada's Square Dance capital and host to the annual Square Dance Jamboree.
