Program Highlights and Opportunities

The Penticton Steps Out Pedometer Program has turned 5 years old and we have done what no other walking program has done and that is to walk around the world! We are now walking on our virtual map from China to Whistler and we will have circumnavigated the earth by the end of our 5th season.  A big thank you to all our sponsors and to our “dreamer” yoga instructor, Teresa Maurer for the innovative idea!  Across Canada, Penticton has won 4 very special awards and our program has been used as a model for close to 100 other communities and groups.  Across the province we have just reached 10,000 “steppers”.

If you are not currently a ‘Steps Out’ member, there are 4 dynamic presentations this winter to choose from:

  • Goal Setting 2010 - Join us for an inspirational eventing to hear stories from a group of special individuals who have made a difference in the lives of others (April Lawrence, Pamela Nelson, Tom Watson and the Vozenilek family) - Cleland Theatre, Jan 21 6:30-8:30 pm $5 or FREE for PSO
  • Limitless Vision - Listen to Donoval Tildesley, Paralympic medalist, tell about how he turned his childhood dream into an adult reality and how you can take steps to live out your dreams too - Cleland Theatre, Jan 29 7:00-8:00 pm FREE tickets at CC.
  • 5 Steps to Embracing your Inner Adventurer - Experience a night of compelling adventure with Kevin Vallely.  Kevin broke the world record with Ray Zahab for the fasted unsupported trek to the South Pole.  Hear about this adventure and many more!  Cleland Theatre, Feb 5 7:00-8:30 pm $5 in advance or $10 at the door FREE for PSO
  • Guide to Living a Long and Healthy Life - Did you miss out seeing Art Hister in the spring?  Here is your chance!  Dr. Hister, daily health analyst on Global TV and author of two best-sellers will address a variety of health issues.  Penticton Trade and Convention Centre, Mar 5 3:30-5:00 pm.  Free tickets at CC.
