These divisions provide and maintain the City's infrastructure. Smoke Testing Sanitary Sewer Mains JULY 25 – AUGUST 21, 2010, the City of Penticton and SFE GLOBAL will be smoke testing the sanitary mains in various areas north of Duncan Ave, the testing of the sanitary mains is inspecting for rainwater entering the sanitary mains. Properties will be receiving hand delivered notices indicating the date of work in your area. The smoke used is NON-TOXIC and will leave no residue. Smoke should not enter your premises unless a leak is present due to improper or damaged plumbing. Although the smoke is harmless, some may find it irritating to breathe. Any such irritation will quickly disappear once exposure to the test smoke has ceased. If you have any questions regarding this notice, please contact the City Yards at 250-490-2500. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and thank you for your cooperation. Flushing of Water Mains The Works Division will commence its annual unidirectional water main flushing program within the Municipal area commencing: April 26 to May 28, 2010 Advantages of adopting a unidirectional water main flushing program will result in significant system improvements and cost savings such as:
This may result in the water supply showing sediment and discoloration in various areas. This sediment is bacterially harmless, however, may cause some discoloration to laundry if not detected. To avoid any inconvenience check water color prior to using. If you do experience dirty water, simply run a cold water tap until water clears up. Works Division Irrigation System Start-up Notice is hereby given that the City of Penticton will begin filling the irrigation systems: Penticton Creek Irrigation System (Naramata Road Area) April 6, 2010 Ellis Creek Irrigation System (Valleyview Road Area) April 13, 2010 Orchardists and others with connections from these systems should take whatever precautions considered necessary to protect their Irrigation systems for the winter. |
