Plumbing Code Open House

Date: November 29, 2012 (6:00 PM - 8:30 PM)

The new B.C. Building Code will be adopted on Dec. 20, 2012, and will significantly impact the public and private sector with respect to the standards for building and development. Trades people, suppliers, developers and others related to the installation of plumbing systems with single family, multi-family and commercial projects are welcome to attend to learn more about the changes ahead.

City staff will be present an overview of changes in the 2012 B.C. Plumbing and Building Codes, how this could impact the trades, developers and suppliers, as well as potential changes on how the City performs plan reviews and site inspections. After the presentation, participants are welcome to ask questions.

Working together will help the transition to the new code, and the Building Department looks forward to partnering with the community as the changes unfold.

Topics of discussion will include:

  • Definitions
  • Water pipe sizing for buildings containing one and two units
  • Vent sizing
  • Electric hot water tanks and water temperature controls
  • Storm and grey water use
  • Fire stopping

Question and answer period will follow the presentation. Refreshments will be available.
