Coyote Warning - Skaha Park

The City of Penticton received a report of a coyote attack on a dog this morning at Skaha Park near the Marina.
Following the incident a local Wildlife Conservation Officer attended, however the coyote left the park area. No word on whether the dog was injured or not.
Coyote sightings occur regularly, however incidents or attacks involving people or pets are uncommon. If a coyote displays aggressive behavior, or if a coyote is seen at Skaha Park, please contact the Ministry Call Centre at 1-800-663-9453.
The public should use caution when visiting the park area over the next few days.
Children shouldn't be left unsupervised if a coyote is in area. Dogs should be kept on a short leash.
