Carmi water main break
February 4, 2015
Crews responded to a water main break along Carmi Avenue.
The 250 mm water main failed at approximately 11:15 a.m. No property damage was reported, and crews were able to quickly isolate the valve and turn off water to the localized area to allow for repairs. Given this a routine repair without any complications, Public Works estimates repairs should be completed within 2 hours and water will restored to the approximately 25 homes.
No water quality advisory/boil water notice is required as a result of the Carmi Avenue water main break. It is completely unrelated to the Downtown water main situation.

Some residents in the area are reporting brown water. This does not mean the water is unsafe to drink; it is a result of a large volume of water escaping from the system, which stirs up pipe sediment. If you experience this brown water, run your tap for 15 to 30 minutes or so, until the water is clear. If the water does not clear, please contact the Public Works department at 250-490-2500.
