Sunday, Feb. 1 at 1 p.m.: Public Works crews are on scene of a water main break at the corner of Main Street and Wade Avenue. The break was reported at 10 a.m., and volume of water indicates this is a larger water main located in an area that required more valves to shut off. Crews successfully stopped the water flow at 11:40 a.m., and flooding was contained to only one building due to the rapid response.

To allow for emergency repair work, water service has been turned off to properties in the 300 block of Main Street. Crews have gone to each establishment to notify them, and the public's patience is appreciated as crews undertake this necessary work. This includes pumping water that accumulated under the surface and digging down to reach the water pipe.

Traffic is restricted on Main and Wade, and drivers are asked to please detour around the area while work is undertaken.

The cause of the break is unknown at this time, but will be investigated as repair solutions are identified and started as soon as possible.
