Getting ready for legal cannabis sales in Penticton

(Penticton, BC – November 15, 2018) – Members of the public and local businesses seeking further information on the sale of Cannabis in Penticton are advised that a report outlining the proposed framework for introducing retail sales in the City is scheduled to appear before Council November 20.

“If Council supports the proposed framework, we will be in a position to initiate the regulatory process for the amendments to the zoning bylaw and changes to other bylaws and policies,” said Planning Manager, Blake Laven. “This work needs to occur before the City can consider the applications for storefronts referred to us by the province.”

Since the licensing portal was opened, the City has received four referrals for private retail stores and one government-owned store, however arrival of storefront locations is still several months away.

While work on the framework and regulations proceeds, the City is reminding residents that cannabis, including dry, oil, pre-rolled, bottles, drops and high-CBD products, can be purchased online at A list of licensed retailers can also be found at the Liquor & Cannabis Regulation Branch (LCRB) website.
