Parking measures in place for residents voting at the PTCC

The City of Penticton has confirmed measures intended to help reduce parking congestion for residents arriving to vote at the Penticton Trade and Conference Centre (PTCC) during this Saturday’s October 20 municipal election.

Access to the general parking lot off Power Street will be reserved for individuals arriving to either cast their vote at the PTCC or use the facilities at the Community Centre/Pool.  Parking attendants stationed at the entrances near Birch Ave and alongside the Memorial Arena will confirm that drivers entering the lot are not using spaces while engaged in activities associated with other facilities or events.

“We expect Saturday to be a busy day at both our voting locations”, said Chief Election Officer, Laurie Darcus.  “We hope to make the process of voting as smooth as possible.  Drivers using other facilities are asked to find an alternative place to park so as to minimize parking congestion outside the PTCC”.

Residents are reminded that the opportunity to vote is also available at the Seniors Drop-In Centre, located at 2965 S Main St.  As well, parking can be avoided all together by taking up BC Transit’s offer of “free service” to and from the polls -
