Repairs to Kiwanis Pier completed

Penticton, BC – October 5, 2018) – After a period of closure and delays, the Kiwanis Pier has reopened for public use following the completion of much needed repairs.

“Once work was able to get underway in early September, the City was pleased to discover that repairs would proceed smoothly”, said City Engineer, Ian Chapman.  “It’s great to see this popular landmark returned to a secure and safe state for all residents and visitors to once again enjoy”.

Repairs to the pier were carried out to reverse damage sustained during the spring high-water event of 2017 leading to its closure for the remainder of 2017 through fall 2018.  The work undertaken included replacing damaged decking, guard rails, pile caps, pilings and braces.
