2019 Budget Talks coming up
January 31, 2019
The City is getting ready to share a draft of the 2019-2023 Financial Plan and 2019 Business Plans with the community for consideration before it is reviewed by Council in late February. Several activities are planned for residents to preview this year’s budget and provide their feedback to staff and Council.
“This year’s financial plan will reflect the priorities of the new Council that were discussed during their campaigns as well as address operational needs such as asset renewal,” says Chief Financial Officer, Jim Bauer. “We look forward to hearing from residents if the direction aligns with their expectations.”
A complete schedule of the events is available at shapeyourcitypenticton.ca. Some of the highlights include:
- A copy of the draft financial and business plans will be available on www.penticton.ca and www.shapeyourcitypenticton.ca on Feb. 14
- An overview of the financial and business plans will be provided during the Feb. 19 Council meeting
- Residents will have two opportunities to discuss the plan and share their feedback with staff on Feb. 20 and 21
- Residents can share their feedback with Council at the start of the budget deliberations between Feb. 26 and 28
Staff will incorporate the feedback received during the engagement activities in the financial plan with the goal of reviewing the draft bylaw with Council on March 19.
