Artist recruitment begins for fourth annual Sculpture Exhibition

The City of Penticton will be heading into its fourth year of the Penticton Public Sculpture Exhibition with the annual artist call out. Applications are currently being accepted for the 2020 Penticton Public Sculpture Exhibition with the deadline for submission being December 13, 2019.

“Penticton’s arts culture has really developed over the past years, especially with the introduction of this sculpture program,” says Penticton Mayor, John Vassilaki. “I look forward to seeing more art being showcased in the community and continuing to expand the vibrancy of the downtown.”

The Penticton Public Sculpture Exhibition is a year-long outdoor exhibit of original sculptures. The sculptures are owned by the artists and leased by the City of Penticton for one year for public enjoyment. The sculptures are displayed along the Okanagan Lakeshore waterfront, downtown and in the Front Street roundabout.

“When this program first launched in 2016, we didn’t know what to expect,” says Recreation Business Supervisor, Kelsey Johnson. “After the positive comments and additional vibrancy to the downtown and lakeshore, we are excited to be continuing the program once more.”
