City of Penticton Stage 1 water restrictions in effect

The City of Penticton is reminding all residents about water restrictions that will occur from May 1 to August 31 in order to mitigate the potential complications of drought.

“Dry conditions in the South Okanagan region are a month ahead of normal,” says Water Quality Supervisor, Micheal Firlotte. “The snow pack is at 69 per cent and all low to mid elevation melt has occurred, with upper elevation melt beginning now.”

Currently, the City is of Penticton’s water system is in Stage 1 Water Restrictions (May 1 to August 31). During these restrictions, residents can expect that landscaping on even-numbered street addresses can be irrigated on even numbered days of the month and vice-versa for odd-numbered street addresses.

“We can expect run off and very dry conditions in May to July as stream flows are also ahead of normal,” says Firlotte.
