What’s the difference between Committee of the Whole and Regular Council Meeting?

At any time during a Regular Council Meeting, Council may pass a resolution to go into Committee of the Whole.  This is a meeting with a separate agenda and minutes and is where Council considers matters (delegations) but they are not deciding City business.  Decisions of Council (resolutions/motions) happen at a Regular Meeting of Council.

Welcome Delegations!

There are several delegations on the Committee of the Whole Agenda today.  Your patience is appreciated.  The Mayor will announce the item and ask the delegation to step forward and begin their presentation.

How do I address Council?

Comments and questions are addressed to the Chair.  This helps maintain order in a meeting.  The Mayor is the Chair of the Council meeting and can be addressed as “Your Worship” or “Mayor Vassilaki”. A Council member is addressed as “Councillor” followed by their last name.

Where do I find the Council Meeting Agendas?

  • Please do not interrupt or comment out of turn when members of the public or other members of Council are speaking.

Have a question for Council?

At the end of the meeting, Council welcomes questions from the media and public.  Please keep your questions to matters that were on today’s agenda.
