Penticton Peach Festival – August 7-11, 2019
Don Kendall, President of Penticton Peach Festival provided Council with an overview of all the events scheduled to take place in Penticton from August 7-11, 2019.
Utility Rate Review
Andrew McLaren, Intergroup, provided Council with a presentation on the City of Penticton Utility Rate Review.
RCMP Quarterly Report
Superintendent Ted De Jager, Detachment Commander, provided Council with the Penticton South Okanagan Similkameen Regional Detachment Statistical Report for January to July 2019.
Community Emergency Preparedness Fund Grant Application
Council approved the application for grant funding from UBCM to support the annual Wildfire Urban Interface (WUI) Training Symposium curriculum development.
Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 2019-08
Council postponed readings of “Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 2019-08” to the Regular Meeting of Council on August 6, 2019.
Council directed staff to maintain the ‘status quo’ approach to heritage properties and maintain the time line for the Heritage Strategy update (currently a medium term project in the 2019 OCP). Council also re-instated the Heritage Advisory Committee as a standalone advisory committee and directed staff to bring back the Terms of Reference for the Heritage Advisory Committee for Council approval.
Municipal Grants Policy
Council approved the amended City of Penticton Municipal Grants Policy dated July 16, 2019. The changes to the Municipal Grants Policy will:
- Provide clarity about the term of grant funding by removing reference to sustainable and see grants;
- Clarify the process for mid-year grant requests;
- Clarify criteria around financial need and forecasted surpluses;
- Add an additional category for Community Events;
- Separate the policy criteria into an Appendix;
- Remove the Eventful Penticton Matrix; and
- Ensure all content in the policy is relevant.
Second Quarter Corporate Business Plan Update
Council received “Second Quarter Corporate Business Plan Update”, dated July 16, 2019, outlining completed and ongoing priorities and key issues.
Second Quarter Financial Update
Council received “Second Quarter Financial Update”, dated July 16, 2019, providing a financial summary.
Penticton Art Gallery
Council supported $23,463.94 request for funds from the Penticton Art Gallery to cover costs from recent break-ins.
Notice of Motion
Council directed staff to review and report back with options to regulate the distribution and collection of sharps in the City of Penticton.
Business Arising from July 16 Committee of the Whole Delegation – Proposed Visioning Workshop Dealing with Cultural Future of South Okanagan
Council approved the request from the South Okanagan Performing Arts Centre Society, for $5000.00 to help fund the proposed October/November 2019 workshop.
