New Provincial regulations to delay burning permits

The City of Penticton is advising the community that seasonal fall burning permits for 2019 will be delayed while steps to amend its associated bylaw and permit process are undertaken.

“New regulations from the Province that allow burning on private property were recently released and before the City can resume issuing permits during the fall months we must first take steps internally to account for the changes within our own processes,” said Penticton Fire Chief, Larry Watkinson.

Anyone planning a burn can contact the Penticton Fire Department at 250-490-2300 to be put on a list to process future permits.  The Fire Department expects to resume issuing permits in November, early December.
