Public Hearing scheduled for OCP Bylaw
July 3, 2019
Council gave first reading to the Official Community Plan Bylaw No. 2019-08 at their meeting on July 2. Bylaw No. 2019-08 will now go to a public hearing before being considered for second and third readings and adoption.
“Council is feeling very good that the direction in the OCP reflects what residents are looking for but we would also like to hear that from the community,” says Mayor John Vassilaki. “We hope to see residents come to the public hearing so they can see how their contributions shaped the plan, show their support for the work or express any outstanding concerns.”
The Public Hearing is scheduled for Monday, July 15, 2019 at 6 pm at the Penticton Trade and Convention Centre. Staff will present the plan at the start of the hearing before residents have the opportunity to make comments. No decision will be made at the Public Hearing. Council will deliberate on whether or not to give further readings to the bylaw at their regularly scheduled meeting on July 16.
The staff report to Council will be available for public inspection up to and including Monday, July 15, 2019 at the following locations during hours of operation: Development Services (City Hall,171 Main Street), Penticton Public Library (785 Main Street) and the Penticton Community Centre (325 Power Street); or online at www.penticton.ca/publicnotice. A copy of the Bylaw can also be viewed online at www.penticton.ca/council as part of the July 2, 2019, Regular Council Agenda.
Any person whose interest may be affected by the proposed bylaw may appear in person or by agent the evening of the Public Hearing. Delegations and Submissions will be received no later than 9:30 am, Monday, July 15, 2019 to Attention: Corporate Officer, City of Penticton, 171 Main Street, Penticton, BC V2A 5A9; Email: firstname.lastname@example.org. No letter, report or representation from the public will be received by Council after the conclusion of the Public Hearing.
