Utility installation construction along 200 block alley coming to close

Businesses and shoppers are advised that construction associated with the installation of in-ground utility lines is coming to a close along the alley adjacent to the east side of the 200 block on Main Street.

“The City of Penticton thanks everyone for their patience while this section of roadway was unusable this fall and winter,” said Electric Utility Manager, Shawn Filice.  “The complexity of the work, combined with construction coordination with the nearby EllisDon and Blenz building projects, led to slower progress than originally scheduled.  By the end of this week, the alleyway will once again be open for use.”

Starting the third week of January, municipal electric, Shaw and Telus crews will be on site while utility poles are removed.  Come spring, the alleyway will again be briefly closed while crews repave the surface.

“Provisions are in place to ensure the alleyway is maintained and free of snow through the remainder of this winter.  Businesses with road maintenance concerns can direct those to the contractor, H&M, by calling 250-493-4677.”
