Kokanee in the Creek

(Penticton, BC – September 17, 2018) – Penticton residents interested in local environmental projects are invited to attend an educational walk along Penticton Creek, scheduled for Saturday, September 22, starting at 9am at the Fish Trap in Penticton Creek, next to the Art Gallery on 199 Marina Way.

The purpose of the creek walk is to provide an opportunity for the public to learn from Bruce Turnbull, a member of the Penticton Fly Fisher’s Association and a member of the Penticton Creek and Ellis Creek Restoration Committee, about the use of Penticton Creek by Kokanee Salmon.  As well, attendees will also be provided with an overview of the City’s recent creek upgrade project.

“We look forward to meeting local residents who are interested in learning about the Penticton Creek ecosystem, its aquatic wildlife and its supporting habitat, along with the work being done to protect it”, said Bryn White, Member of the Penticton Creek and Ellis Creek Restoration Committee.
