Agricultural Irrigation

Stage 2 water restrictions in place

The City of Penticton advises North and South Agricultural Irrigation System users that Stage 2 water restrictions are now in effect.

These measures aim to reduce overall water use by 20 per cent and protect Penticton’s agricultural water supply during ongoing dry conditions.

What this means
All irrigation users should reduce water use by at least 20 per cent from normal levels wherever possible.

How you can help
•    Review irrigation schedules
•    Reduce run times where possible
•    Check for leaks
•    Avoid watering during hot or windy periods
•    Focus water use on essential crop needs

Why it matters
As of June 25, 2026, the Province of British Columbia has classified the Okanagan region at drought Level 4 of 5, indicating serious water scarcity.

The City recognizes the importance of agricultural irrigation to local food production, farm operations and the broader community. However, current conditions require immediate and sustained conservation. Reducing water use now will help maintain supply for the remainder of the irrigation season and support system resilience into 2027.

Thank you for helping meet the 20 per cent reduction goal and protect Penticton’s shared water supply.
