• Feb. 9, 2023 - Changes to liquor consumption in public places: A pilot project that began in 2020 to allow controlled drinking on certain beaches is now permanent. City council gave three readings to the bylaw that allows liquor consumption in select parks and beaches along the Okanagan and Skaha lakefronts from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. year-round. Previously, the pilot project was only during the summer.
• April 17, 2022 - Responsible consumption in designated public places enters into third year
• May 5, 2021 - Responsible consumption in designated public places returns to Penticton
• November 23, 2020 - Responsible consumption initiative set to resume for summer 2021
• June 3, 2020 - Pilot Project: Responsible Liquor Consumption in Designated Public Spaces
• June 3, 2020 - Pilot project allowing consumption of alcohol in designated public spaces starts today

Please be advised of the following:

• Public intoxication is not permitted and will be prosecuted. 
• You must be 19 years or older to purchase and consume alcohol in B.C.
• Littering of glass, bottles or cans will result in a fine.
• The boardwalk along Okanagan Beach is not included.

Public intoxication and littering is not allowed.
