Know Before You Go
All guests will be required to reserve and pre pay for an activity timeslot in order to access the Penticton Community Centre.
- Reservations can be made through our online booking system.
- Residents will be able reserve an activity timeslot a maximum of 48 hours in advance, Non-Residents will be able to reserve an activity timeslot a maximum of 36 hours in advance.
- Each individual visiting the facility must have an activity time slot reserved. (For example, families and care givers must have a time slot booked for each person attending).
- The fitness room is available for 1.25 hour timeslot reservations.
- The main pool is available for 1 hour single lane swimming.
- The leisure pool is available for 1 hour of moderate activity (water walking, therapeutic exercise or casual swimming. Use of the leisure pool will be shared and swimmers are required to monitor their activity and maintain appropriate distancing from others.
- Change rooms and amenities will be available on a limited basis for patrons attending aquatic activities. Guests are encouraged to arrive prepared to swim, take a pre-swim cleansing shower, exit promptly and shower/change at home wherever possible.
- Change rooms will not be available for patrons attending the fitness room. Guests are encouraged to come dressed and ready to exercise.
- Bottle fill stations are available through the facility, and water fountains are closed.
- The sauna and steam room remain closed at this time.

- Memberships
- All current memberships remain on hold and cannot be used for timeslot reservations. This includes 1, 3, 6 & 12 month memberships and 10 ticket pass cards.
- Clients may request a membership refund backdated to the original date of closure until December 31, 2020. Membership refund requested after this date cannot be backdated.
- Specialized Admission Programs
- All specialized admission program passes are currently suspended. This includes LIFE Passes, Access Passes and Volunteer Passes.
- All other fees for facility bookings and programs remain at regular price.

- Stay home when I am sick. I will not enter the Penticton Community Centre if I have had symptoms of COVID-19 in the last 10 days; have been directed by Public Health to self-isolate, have arrived from outside of Canada within the last 14 days or have been in contact with someone who has.
- Adhere to a pre-screening questionnaire every time I enter the building.
- Please arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your reservation start time. Staff will be managing the check-in at the main entrance. No late admittance will be permitted.
- Respect physical distancing and maintain a safe physical distance at all times – at least 2 m / 6 ft.
- Properly wash my hands often and use proper hygiene etiquette.
- Follow all health, safety, and directional signage.
- Adhere to capacity limits as posted.
- Bring a pre-filled water bottle to workout. Bottle fill stations will be available, but water fountains will not.
- Adhere to reservation time limits, and vacate the pool deck promptly.
- Exit the facility no later than 10 minutes after your reservation ends.
- Patrons are reminded that physical distancing is each person’s responsibility. If you are uncomfortable in any space, you may wear a mask, face shield or step away.
- I understand that I will be asked to leave the facility if I am not adhering to and/or following the guidelines, policies, procedures and/or the core values outlined by Recreation Penticton.
- I understand it is my responsibility to ensure that anyone I’m supervising abides by this code of conduct.
Main PoolReserve a lane in the main pool for a lap swim. Sorry, no public equipment available at this time. Swimmers are welcome to bring their own equipment, subject to staff approval, for personal use.
To maintain appropriate physical distancing, swimmers will be asked to swim down the centre/middle of their lane at all times.
Reservations are restricted to use of designated lane only.
Leisure Pool
Reserve a shared time in the leisure pool for moderate activity such as water walking, therapeutic exercise or casual swimming. Sorry, no public equipment or toys available at this time. Swimmers are welcome to bring their own equipment, subject to staff approval, for personal use.
As use of the leisure pool will be shared, swimmers are required to monitor their activity and maintain appropriate distancing (2 m / 6 ft) from others.
Reservations are restricted to use of the leisure pool only.
Children 15 years and under must be accompanied by an adult in the water. Adults supervising children are responsible for monitoring and enforcing appropriate behaviour and physical distancing while in the facility.
A registered parent/guardian may bring ONE infant or toddler under the age of 3 without registration.

- Adhere to reservation time limits and exit promptly when directed.
- I understand that I will be asked to leave the facility if I am not adhering to and/or following the guidelines, policies, procedures and/or the core values outlined by Recreation Penticton.
Facility Rentals Availability
As part of the City’s phased reopening process, some indoor facilities and select sports fields and parks were made available for bookings beginning in July. Rental requests will be considered from user groups who have submitted a complete COVID-19 Safety Plans. Full details about this process can be found below.

If your sport does not have sport-specific guidelines developed by a Provincial or National Sport Organization, please refer to the guidelines of a sport as similar to your own as possible, and use the Non-Affiliated Sport User Groups checklist to evaluate and develop your plan.
Please email your completed plans for consideration. Recreation Staff will begin the review process and will follow-up with you accordingly. The City of Penticton will honour historical facility bookings where possible and in consideration of available resources. Any new booking requests received will be based on availability.

Outdoor Private Park Rentals
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and associated provincial health guidelines discouraging large gatherings, private rentals of City parks are not available at this time.
City parks remain open for casual use only (no bookings). Please respect all COVID-19 safety measures and provincial health guidelines when using City Parks.

FAQ
- Reduced facility capacities and group sizes for programs, classes and activity timeslots.
- Adhering to rigorous, scheduled sanitation practices. This includes the use of electrostatic disinfectant sprayers in combination with frequent touch-point cleaning throughout the day.
- Providing cleaning and sanitizing stations throughout the facility.
- Spacing fitness equipment and closing certain areas to allow for physical distancing.
- Closure of select aquatic amenities (e.g. some lockers, showers and change spaces).
- Facility provided equipment (such as kickboards, pull buoys, noodles, dumbbells, etc.) will not be available.
- Guests are asked to practice proper hand hygiene, avoid touching communal surfaces where possible, and stay home if they are sick or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
- The hours of operation and demand for services will continually be evaluated and adjusted as needed within the resources available.
- The Penticton Community Centre is a very busy facility. Introducing a reservation system will ensure that even during peak times, the number of guests in our facilities will be monitored and capped to allow for appropriate physical distancing.

- To cancel your timeslot please call the Community Centre at 250-490-2426. Refunds will be provided for cancellations. Due to high demand, we kindly ask that guests cancel their booking as soon as they become aware that they will not be attending their reserved activity time slot. This will help ensure that any one on our waitlist may have an opportunity to attend.
- In response to the Provincial Health Officer’s recent mandatory mask announcement and the official Provincial Order released November 25, changes will be implemented effective immediately at City recreation facilities.
