Addressing

Your address identifies where your property is in the City and is essential for emergency response services (Fire, Police and Ambulance).  It is critical that your address is clearly displayed so that your home can be found quickly.  Section 6.3 of Bylaw 2025-28 outlines requirements for address number visibility.

As per Section 6.2 of Bylaw 2025-28, consideration will be given to changing an address in the following instances:

a)  Where a residential dwelling or other building is on a corner lot and faces a different street than what it is currently addressed,
b)  Where an owner objects to the existing street number as being culturally objectionable,
c)  For marketing purposes,
d)  In the case of a subdivision or redevelopment, where there is a need to accommodate additional addresses, or
e)  To avoid duplication or confusion with another similar valid civic address.

Please submit the request to planning@penticton.ca for review.  There is a fee to change your address.

New Street Names:

Often new streets are created from subdivision.  Names for new streets created by subdivision will be selected from the 'Street Name Reserve List' (Street Naming Guidelines Policy).  City Council approves the assignment of new street names.

Adding Street Names to the 'Street Name Reserve List'

Consideration of names to be added to the 'Street Name Reserve List' will be given to names that portray a strong positive image of the community and have historical, natural, cultural or societal significance or after persons who have made significant contributions to the community, province or country.

New names will be added to the Street Name Reserve List through Council approval.

Street Name Change:
