In-Kind expenditures reallocated
Council approved re-allocation of unused in-kind grant expenditures for Challenge Penticton to the ITU Festival and directed staff to incorporate learnings from the ITU Festival into future major events including the 2018 Super League Triathlon.
Travel Penticton lease proposal
Council approved a new lease agreement for Travel Penticton Society for a portion of the building located at 888 Westminster Avenue for a five (5) year term with an option to renew at a rate of $20,566 plus additional rent and applicable taxes inclusive of consumer price index (CPI) increases per annum.
Smart Cities Challenge
Council supported the development of a submission for the Smart Cities Challenge for the $10M prize for communities with a population under 500,000. The challenge encourages communities to adopt a smart cities approach to improve the lives of their residents through innovation, data and connected technology.
Mobile Retail Vending
Council supported amendments to the Mobile Food Vending License Program to allow for a maximum of three (3) mobile retail trucks to be located at Power Street, Gyro Park and Skaha Lake and limited to one (1) retail truck per location at a time.
237 Phoenix Avenue
Council gave first reading to Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 2018-02, a bylaw that rezones the property from R1 (Large Lot Residential) to RD1 (Duplex Housing). The applicant is proposing to build a side by side duplex on the property. This matter will be forwarded to the January 23, 2018 Public Hearing.
Five Year Financial Plan
Council adopted the 2018-2022 Five Year Financial Plan Bylaw No. 2017-79.
