Major excavation is required to replace the infrastructure, followed by roadway paving and installing a new sidewalk along Balsam Avenue from Dartmouth Drive to the daycare centre and Wiltse Elementary.
Underway (Update July 7, 2026): Construction continues along Balsam Avenue, with a closure in place and local access only. Follow the detours in place. Any disruption or changes to the work site will be communicated directly with homeowners and the daycare on site. Work will begin along Dartmouth this week, with single-lane alternating traffic beginning on Thursday, July 9, 2026.

Construction will ramp up in the neighbourhood between July 20-27, with detours in place. Watch for on-site signage throughout the community to update you about the closure coming up the next day. Please note this schedule may change due to unforeseen circumstances but the contractors will work to follow the schedule and meet all timelines in order to minimize the impact to residents. Flaggers will be on-site during the duration of this phase of construction, to safely direct all traffic.
Monday, July 20: A full closure will be required on Dartmouth Drive between Wiltse Blvd and Balsam Ave for one day only. Vehicles will not be able to access Wiltse via the Dartmouth hill (Dartmouth Drive) on this day. Access will be detoured via Pineview Road, along Cedar Rd during this time. More information will be shared publicly ASAP, with maps. Access will be available to nearby homes, including those along Adamson Drive, as well as pedestrians. July 21-22: A full closure is required at the intersection of Dartmouth Drive and Balsam Avenue for two days. Access to Wiltse Blvd via Dartmouth Drive will be open during this time. Drivers can also access via Pineview and Cedar Road.
July 23, 24: Construction will be required at the intersection of Dartmouth Drive and Wiltse Blvd during this time and access will not be available via Dartmouth Drive. However, the Dartmouth/Balsam access will be open at this time. Drivers should access Wiltse via Pineview Road.
July 27: Watch for updates throughout the neighbourhood on posted signs. Construction on Dartmouth Drive is anticipated to wrap up on this day.
