Construction on a $5.5 million project to upgrade aging water infrastructure will soon begin, improving reliability and capacity for residents living in Penticton.
This work involves two projects, beginning this month with a watermain replacement within the Wiltse neighbourhood, followed by the replacement of a raw water main on Lakeshore Drive, which will begin in the fall.
The Wiltse upgrade involves installing a new route for the Evergreen Reservoir feeder main along Dartmouth Drive, Balsam Avenue and a section of Evergreen Drive. Major excavation will be required to replace the infrastructure, followed by roadway paving and installing a new sidewalk along Balsam Avenue from Dartmouth Drive to the daycare and Wiltse Elementary.
The City is contacting neighbours living in the area directly and residents will receive 48 hours’ notice for planned service interruptions or access restrictions. Work will continue until late fall 2026, with updates posted online at penticton.ca/roadwork.
