Access to Cherry Lane Shopping Centre during construction

Service Announcement

Construction of the Lake-to-Lake Bike Route has now largely shifted to the section of Atkinson Street between Warren Avenue and Kinney Avenue. Please note that this stretch of road is only open to local traffic at this time, with work expected to continue along Atkinson and Kinney until mid-September.

If you are visiting the area or heading to the shopping centre, consider using the entrances off Warren Avenue and Main Street, which will not be affected and are the easiest way to access all parking lots during this time.

Residents in the area should anticipate intermittent road closures or single-lane alternating traffic along Atkinson Street and Kinney Avenue in the coming weeks, with the majority of work expected to be completed by approximately Sept. 10, 2022. Please watch for on-site signage and flaggers.

Due to the intermittent closures on Kinney Avenue, the easiest way to access the western parking lot behind The Bay and London Drugs is to enter off Warren Avenue.

Construction work is proceeding on schedule, anticipated to be complete by October. In addition to the new bike lane, a storm water management system has been installed to improve drainage, enhanced lighting is being added along the entire corridor of Atkinson Street, and improvements to sidewalks and concrete will provide increased safety for all users.

Once this work is complete, the final milestone in this section of the project will involve construction on Duncan Avenue between Fairview Road and Main Street including upgrades to the intersection at Duncan Avenue and Atkinson Street. This work is expected to begin in early September. More information about the impacts to traffic on Duncan Avenue will be provided in advance of construction.
