Key findings indicate a positive shift in public sentiment, with 73 per cent of respondents rating the overall quality of life as “very good” or “excellent”—an eight per cent improvement from 2023. Penticton continues to be highly regarded as a holiday destination, a place to retire, and a place to raise children. However, perceptions remain more moderate regarding employment opportunities, business environment and public safety.
City services received strong ratings, with 29 of 31 services classified as “Primary Strengths” in both importance and performance. Notably, Fire and Emergency Response, Drinking Water Quality, and Sanitary Sewer services were rated highest in performance. Residents expressed a desire for increased investment in parks and sports fields, community cleanliness, and fire and emergency response.
Feedback on Council priorities revealed that while support for community vibrancy and culture was high, concerns persist around crime reduction and housing accessibility. The survey also highlighted a consistent preference among residents to maintain or enhance service levels through growth, user fees or taxes rather than service reductions.
These insights can provide guidance to Council and staff in aligning future initiatives with community expectations and strategic goals.
