The South Okanagan Events Centre (SOEC) is a 5,000-seat arena that hosts everything from world-class concerts and major stadium events to hockey games. The complex has two sheets of ice, including the OHS Training Centre. These two sheets host the Penticton Vees and the Okanagan Hockey Academy.
About the SOEC
Big News for the Penticton Vees!
The Penticton Vees have been accepted as the Western Hockey League’s 23rd team and will begin play in the 2025/26 season.
The Vees junior hockey organization has a long history in Penticton, dating back to the creation of the Okanagan-Mainline Junior Hockey League in 1961. The Vees’ senior men’s team won the 1955 World Hockey Championships.
The WHL estimates the economic impact of a franchise, for a mid-market team, to be about $7.9 million in direct impact and $14.9 million in indirect impact. The Vees will continue to play out of the SOEC.
