Due to cooler temperatures and recent rainfall, the Penticton Fire Department is lifting its campfire ban within city limits, effective today.
Improved conditions and favourable weather have reduced wildfire risk, allowing the Penticton Fire Department to rescind the campfire ban and align with current BC Wildfire Service restrictions. There are currently no fire prohibitions or restrictions in effect within the Kamloops Fire Centre, which includes the Penticton area.
While conditions have improved, the City of Penticton encourages residents to remain cautious and take steps to reduce wildfire risk. Residents should have an emergency plan in place and apply FireSmart principles around their homes and properties, including removing combustible materials, maintaining defensible space and keeping roofs and gutters free of debris.
