The Penticton Fire Department has announced that the campfire ban issued this summer will be lifted today at noon.
Citing improved conditions and favourable weather, Kamloops Fire Centre rescinded the ban on campfires in the region that includes Penticton.
The only locations where campfires are allowed in Penticton are Three Mile Beach, Okanagan Lake, and Skaha Lake in the designated fire pits. Portable propane fireplaces are permitted in all parks. Category 2 and Category 3 open fires remain prohibited until October 11 or until the orders are rescinded.
The City of Penticton thanks the public in advance for its co-operation, and compliance with the remaining ban for open air/special burning, which is prohibited until October 15.
