City issuing corrected utility bills after error identified in paper bill mailout

Service Announcement

The City of Penticton has identified an error affecting some utility accounts in the August 14 billing cycle. If you receive your utility bill by mail, please be aware that the statement arriving in your mailbox is incorrect.

Customers who receive electronic bills are not affected. Balances visible in MyCity are also correct and are not impacted.

The City is working closely with its billing contractor to investigate how the error occurred and identify measures to prevent a similar issue from happening in the future.

Corrected utility bills are currently being prepared and will be printed and mailed in the coming days. Customers who receive a corrected bill should disregard the earlier invoice and use the corrected version when making their payment. A notice will be included with the corrected bill (dated Aug. 14, 2026) advising customers to disregard the previous bill, dated Aug. 15, 2025.

The due date for this billing period is Sept. 8, giving customers time to receive and review their corrected bill before making a payment.

If you have already paid the bill, you will not be penalized. Please contact Utilities staff if you have already made a payment for the Sept. 8 due date so that any required adjustments can be made and any related penalties waived.

For customers enrolled in the pre-authorized withdrawal program, the correct amount will be withdrawn on Sept. 8, 2026, and no further action is required.

If you haven’t received your revised paper bill by Aug. 24, please contact the Utilities department by email at utilities@penticton.ca or by phone at 250-490-2489. If you’d like to sign up for online billing or pre-authorized payments, learn more at penticton.ca/utilities.

The City apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates the patience and understanding of affected residents and businesses while this matter is resolved.
