(Penticton, BC – June 5, 2026) – The City of Penticton is pleased to announce that the City’s free bike valet service will be available at an increased number of events this summer for residents and visitors thanks to receiving the BC Bike Valet grant.
The grant, funded by the Province of BC and delivered through the BC Cycling Coalition (BCCC), will support the service in continuing to operate free of charge through to September 5. The Bike Valet grant is provided as part of a province-wide initiative to support active transportation in communities across British Columbia. The City’s bike valet program offers secure, staffed parking for bikes, e-bikes, scooters, strollers and more at the weekly Farmers’ Market and at special events across the city.
“Continued support for our bike valet ensures residents and visitors have a safe, convenient, and accessible place to secure their bikes, making it easier to explore our city in a healthy, sustainable, and enjoyable way,” says City Councillor Isaac Gilbert.
"Last year, the City of Penticton fulfilled the same demand for secure, attended bike parking at their events that we see all over B.C., and did a great job of getting the word out" said Colin Stein, executive director of the BC Cycling Coalition, which administers the BC Bike Valet Grant program for the provincial government. "This free service parked over 2,400 bikes or other vehicles last summer with surveys showing that residents and visitors alike were replacing vehicle trips with biking and other active travel modes when attending community events. We're thrilled to be able to support Penticton's bike valet again in 2026."
