City provides update on council vacancy

Statement

The City confirms that Councillor Miller has been convicted by the court of an indictable offence after a trial in Sarnia, Ontario.

Under provincial legislation, his mandatory leave ended on the date of conviction, and his seat on council became vacant at that time.

The seat will remain vacant until the general election.

The City will continue to focus on maintaining effective governance and continuity of service to the community.
