Planning is underway for the City of Penticton to take over operations of the outdoor rink, a year-round amenity where residents can roll, play or ice skate in the heart of the city.
“We are deeply grateful to Drew Barnes, the Activate Penticton Society, and the many sponsors and volunteers whose vision and dedication brought this rink to life,” says Mayor Julius Bloomfield. “Their efforts have created a gathering place that’s become a cherished part of our community. The City is proud to carry this legacy forward and ensure this space continues to thrive for years to come.”
Located at 107 Martin Street, next to Gyro Park, the fully refrigerated outdoor rink officially opened in March 2022, thanks to the efforts of the Activate Penticton Society. The facility was operated and maintained by a team of dedicated volunteers, with most funding coming from sponsors and donations.
More details about winter skating opportunities will be made available closer to the date at penticton.ca/skating.
