Community Centre update – service levels, access and fees

Service Announcement

On September 7, the Penticton Community Centre will increase levels of service and facility access for the fitness room and aquatic facility. With this, the temporary suspension of the admission rates and specialized admission program fees will come to an end and originally (pre pandemic) prescribed fees and charges will resume.  Changes set to occur for September 7 include:

  • Reservations will no longer be required for the Fitness Room. General access will be available from 6:00am-9:00pm weekdays and 8:30am-8:30pm weekends.
  • The main and leisure pools will be available for specific aquatic activities, such as public swim, family swim, lap swim, etc., as scheduled. Aquatic schedules will be posted and updated as they are finalized via the City’s website and Recreation Penticton’s social media channels.
  • Aquatic facility amenities including the hot tub, sauna, steam room and change rooms will be available.
  • Reception staff will be available in person from 6:00am-9:00pm weekdays and 8:30am-8:30pm weekends. No appointments required.

When visiting the Community Centre pool or fitness room, guests will be able to purchase a single drop-in admission, use their 10 ticket punch pass or scan a valid monthly membership card.

All valid memberships have been on hold since March 17, 2020 and these memberships will be reinstated effective September 7, 2021. Clients may purchase their passes in advance by visiting the Penticton Community Centre or calling 250-490-2426. LIFE Program and Access Pass applications will now be accepted.

We thank all of our participants and guests for their support and patience over the last several months as we continue our return to recreation. We look forward to seeing you!

Background

On July 21, 2020, Council temporarily suspended the specialized program fees and facility admission fees, introducing a flat fee for single admission reservations. This decision was in response to the Pool and Fitness Centre reopening after the initial pandemic shutdown and the limited capacity available in the facilities.
