A number of construction projects will affect sections of Fairview Rd. and Martin St. over the next several days.
Paving on Fairview Rd. starts Thursday
Drivers who regularly travel Fairview Rd. may want to find alternate routes beginning Thursday, Aug. 19 and through to Saturday, Aug. 21. Delays along the road are expected as crews repave sections north of Duncan Ave. as part of construction of the Lake-to-Lake Bike Route.
Detours on Martin St. planned for Monday
Work on the intersection of Martin St. and Eckhardt Ave. has been moved from this Thursday to Monday, Aug. 23. Martin St. south will be closed to traffic at Eckhardt Ave. throughout the day on Monday to allow for installation of new signal arms for the bike route and other changes to the intersection. Detours will be in place to move traffic around the intersection. Access to businesses along Eckhardt Ave. and Martin St. are not expected to be affected by the closure.
Early work on ice rink underway
Early work to provide power for the new ice rink downtown next to Gyro Park has started. Pedestrian and bicycle traffic on the east side of the first block of Martin St. south of Lakeshore Drive will be affected by construction beginning Aug. 25 and ending Aug. 27. More information about the construction of the ice rink will be shared in the coming weeks when the plans are final.
