Cooling centres extended, fire ban starts today

Service Announcement

With the extension of the heat warning, the City of Penticton cooling centres will remain open through Sunday.

The Emergency Operations Centre will monitor the situation and determine if further expansion of the centres is required.

The current centre hours are as follows:

  • South Okanagan Events Centre (835 Eckhart Avenue) will be open between 7 am and 8 pm
  • Penticton Community Centre (325 Power Street) will be open between 6 am and 11 pm
  • Penticton Public Library auditorium and lobby (785 Main Street) will be open 9:30 am to 8 p.m.
  • Penticton Seniors’ Drop-in Centre (2965 Main Street) will be open from 9 am to 8 pm

By order of the Fire Chief, there will be no camp fires within the City of Penticton boundaries, effective July 29, 2022 at 4 p.m. until further notice. This order is in alignment with fire danger class now being extreme in the South Okanagan.  It does not include Underwriters Laboratories of Canada rated gas appliances.
