Council to consider long-term funding agreements for arts, culture and community events

City Council on Tuesday will consider long-term funding agreements valued at more than $450,000 annually to support 17 organizations and events that help make Penticton a dynamic and welcoming place to live and visit.

“Arts, culture, recreation and events are the heartbeat of a vibrant community. Committing to multi-year agreements enables our partners to plan confidently, expand their impact and continue delivering inclusive, high-quality programming that enriches life for everyone in Penticton,” says Kelsey Johnson, General Manager of Community Services.

If approved, the funding will be included in the City’s 2026–2030 Financial Plan and supports both operating and special event grants. Recipients would include:

Operating Grants

  • Penticton Art Gallery – $115,000
  • SS Sicamous Society – $90,000
  • Penticton & District Community Arts Council – $51,000
  • Penticton & Area Cycling Association – $51,000

Special Event Grants

  • Downtown Penticton Business Improvement Association (Community Market) – $4,400
  • Pentastic Jazz Festival Society – $10,500
  • Penticton Elvis Festival – $6,500
  • Penticton Farmers’ Market – $6,200
  • Peach City Beach Cruise – $10,800
  • Penticton Paddle Sports Association – $22,700
  • Penticton Peach Festival Society – $61,600
  • Penticton Scottish Festival Society – $8,600
  • Royal Canadian Legion Branch 40 (Remembrance Day) – $4,900
  • Ha Ha Ha Kidzfest – $10,300
  • Penticton Triathlon Club (Peach Classic Triathlon) – $5,100

The long-term funding model builds on the success of a two-year pilot program and reflects the City’s strategic priorities of supporting community-focused services and fostering economic and social vibrancy. Organizations selected for funding have demonstrated consistent value to the community, strong governance, and alignment with the City’s goals.
