Service Announcement

Proclamation – January 2022 as “Crime Stoppers Month”
Council proclaimed January 2022 as “Crime Stoppers Month” in the City of Penticton. 

Civic Places and Spaces - Engagement Update
Council received an update on the feedback gathered in support of four key recommendations for implementation over the next 20 years including the creation of a new Public Safety and Protective Services Centre to replace Fire Hall #1, two new arenas to replace McLaren and Memorial Arenas, a new Arts & Culture Centre to replace the library, museum and art gallery and extensive upgrades to extend the life of City Hall. 

Next steps, include completing the outstanding engagements and returning to Council with a complete report and suggestions for next steps for direction in early 2022.

Appointment of Statutory Officers
Council appointed Paula McKinnon as Deputy Corporate Officer and Angela Campbell as the temporary Chief Financial Officer for the City of Penticton.

Sudbury Beach, Skaha East and Peach Concessions
3846 Skaha Lake Road, 3885 South Main Street and 185 Lakeshore Drive West

Council referred the Request for Proposal to the Parks and Recreation Advisory Committee for their review and recommendation, for the use of Sudbury Beach, Skaha East and Peach Concessions for the operation of food concessions for a three year term.

FCM Community Efficiency Financing Funding Opportunity
Council supported an application to the Program Evaluation Study stream of the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Community Efficiency Financing program in support of a review of the City’s Home Energy Loan Program.

Fees and Charges Amendment Bylaw No. 2021-32
Council gave first, second, and third reading to “Fees and Charges Amendment Bylaw No. 2021-32”, a bylaw to set the 2022 utility fees and charges and update the planning fees and charges appendix. Council will hold a Special Council meeting on December 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. to adopt the bylaw.

2022-2026 Five Year Financial Plan Bylaw No. 2021-45
Council gave first, second and third reading to the “2022-2026 Five Year Financial Plan Bylaw No. 2021-45”. Council will hold a Special Council meeting on December 14, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. to adopt the bylaw.

Community Safety Resource Review
Council directed staff to commence the Community Safety Resource Review.
