Event season kicks into high gear this weekend in Penticton

News Release

The City of Penticton is gearing up for a busy summer of festivals and events, which kicks into high gear this weekend with two high-profile events, the Peach City Beach Cruise and Elvis Festival.

“Penticton has a long history of hosting large-scale events, and we’re thrilled to open our arms and welcome everyone back again,” said Penticton Mayor John Vassilaki. “With more than a dozen major events taking place this summer alone, we can bet this will be an exciting time for residents and local businesses, securing Penticton’s place on the special events hosting map.”

The City will be issuing service announcements for upcoming road closures, with all details also listed online at penticton.ca/roadclosures.

A list of the key events is provided below, including the return of the Young Stars Classic, confirmed Wednesday. Residents should refer to the event websites for official information about event details, impacts such as road closures, and opportunities to participate including volunteering.  On the City’s events webpage, at penticton.ca/events, residents will find an event calendar and current information about scheduled events including upcoming road closures.

“We have many weekends of overlapping events coming up, so expect to see greater volumes of people at many of your favourite places. This is welcome news for our local businesses and vital to our economy, so join us in welcoming the visitors, entertainers, athletes and spectators this season,” said Carly Lewis, Economic Development Manager.
