Expect brief traffic impact around Okanagan Lake Park and cyclists on KVR trail Saturday morning

Service Announcement

Residents and visitors in the areas of Lakeshore Drive and Vancouver Avenue should be aware of a brief traffic impact this Saturday morning between 8-8:30 a.m. for the Kettle Mettle Gravel Fondo bike race.

Watch for traffic control on Vancouver Avenue, Vancouver Place and Naramata Road, which will involve holding traffic for five-minute pauses to allow cyclists to safely travel through.

In addition, anyone using the KVR trail during that time are asked to watch for and give way to cyclists. Riders start at Okanagan Lake Park in two waves and will race to the finish line in East Kelowna. For more details about this race, including the route, visit kettlemettle.ca.

The City would also like to raise awareness of two other upcoming endurance races, which will take place on local trail networks.

The BC Bike Race Gravel Explorer will use the 3 Blind Mice Network on Thursday, Sept. 22, with further information at bcbrgravel.com.

Also, the Campbell Mountain XC Race on Sunday, Sept. 25 will make use of the Campbell Mountain parking lot, with racers taking to the trails. More details is available at pentictonpounders.com/races.
